DIY Scrapbook

When faced with the predicament of what to give our loved ones for Valentine's Day, many resort to gifts that are neither original nor good for the environment.
The box of chocolates that arrives in layers of plastic and paper, the five dollar card printed with toxic ink, or the bouquet of chemical-laden roses are all frequently seen on V-Day.
I wanted to give a gift that was both creative and personal, so I decided on a scrapbook.
All of the pages are made of old grocery bags, used paper, or other materials of that sort. Even the cover is made from the box of chocolates I received last year. The only new things were the glue and adhesives, and the pictures which I printed FOR FREE on Shutterfly.
The first page: picture glued onto old tissue paper with cutout magazine letters for the caption. I used hot glue to reinforce the tissue paper.

More magazine-letter captions.

Washi tape and Sharpie on top of an old popcorn box (hence the scalloped edges).

I'm very proud of this page. Between the front and the back, I listed 100 things.

The back of "100 things" and "MAY" magazine letters.

Picture collage and painter's tape. Another favorite of mine.

4th of July - one of my favorite pictures. P.S. The fireworks aren't real, I superimposed them on using an app called PixIromatic.

Sharpie and cut-up pictures.

A flip book that I made by stapling the tops of these pictures to the page and then covering it up with washi tape.

Halloween picture with old gold foil.

I'm super happy with how the scrapbook turned out. Feel free to leave comments about your favorite page (and steal my ideas for next year).

Succulent Terrarium

I received this terrarium as a gift from my friend, but making your own would definitely be possible.
All you would need is dirt, a layer of rocks, a beautiful piece of blown glass, and of course, plants!

Naturally Beautiful Skin

My mom is over forty years old and still has beautiful, smooth skin. Read below to discover some of her timeless beauty secrets.

1. ALWAYS wear sunscreen. Whether it's cloudy with a chance of rain or bright and sunny, you should always slap on the 'screen.

2. Moisture, Moisture, Moisture! Use natural oils or other beauty blends to restore the shine and elasticity to your skin. My personal favorite is Trader Joe's coconut oil. Melt the oil in your hands and apply every night before bed. Your skin will love you.

3. Scrub off the dead skin cells. Our bodies produce over 8 lbs. of dead skin every year. This being said, it is essential to exfoliate once a week. This removes dull, flaky skin, and allows for your nightly moisture routine to do it's job!

4. ALWAYS follow this one rule.. If you wouldn't eat it, do NOT put it on your body.
